I've been going to Advanced Audi for the past 2 years. Just so you know this isn't a reflex review of good or bad service.The simplest way to describe service at Advanced is honest and thorough. Aaron and Randy are a great team. Aaron handles the customers and business while Randy wrenches.Compared to dealership service, these guys are great. They're cheaper and will only fix what they need to fix. That is, they don't invent non-existent problems or suggest you replace things that don't need replacing. Their hourly rates are on-par with other Bay Area independent repair shops.Randy is an excellent tech. He used to work at Sonnen's service center before reaching his tipping point of disgust. Thankfully, we're the benefactor of Sonnen's screwup. Thanks Sonnen!Randy also gets bonus points for finding a rattle in my S4 that four Audi dealers across two states couldn't diagnose. He also fixed it in a super cheap manner.They also have a shuttle which is nice touch for an independent mender.

It's pretty rare for a car repair shop to deserve 5 stars, but Advanced is a rare treat. They've competently diagnosed my Audi's ailments and charged me considerably less than the dealership estimate. Aaron is very honest and upfront about what work needs to be done now and what work can wait until later. The big bonus is that even though they're pretty far from most places in SF you'd like to be, they'll drop you off whereveer you need to go. Everything I'd expect from a repair shop, and more.Bear in mind that they do only service Audis.

i usually leave car shops with a nagging feeling that i've been ripped off or feeling like they didn't fix everything i had a problem with...or both! i'd drive away wondering just how soon my next unexpected visit will be and regretting my car purchase the whole way home. those days are over. the guys here are straightforward, friendly and the prices are fair. they didn't make me feel stupid explaining (in mostly sound effects) the weird sound my car made and they didn't make me feel bad for being a curb rider. not only did they get me to and from work, they even washed my car. yay! can you love your car shop? i think i do.

Cool, genuine, understanding staff who wont rip you off for the sake of ripping you off...the dealerships do enough of that. Nice out of the way locale, so you don't have to deal with a bunch of bullshit or bullshit pretense auto owners. Informative, honest and wont blow you out of the water, and they stay pretty close to their estimated costs.UPDATE: 2/2007Looks like new labor cost are in effect. $100 just for bringing your car in, I signed it for the estimate and got stuck with a $100 plus charge for a 20-40 dollar part that probably took about 10 minutes to install. I do feel a little price gouged and never thought these mechanics would rip you. I love that they can give you a thorough explanation on what needs to get done on your vehicle. So nothing but love for these guys!

Engine light in my 2003 Golf went off, so I tried calling these guys for help since they're close by my workplace. They immediately told me my car was still under warranty and to go to the dealer to get my car fixed for free instead of paying someone to fix or run a diagnostic on it. Took it as a very good sign. I know who to trust when my car's warranty expires...
