I just can't say enough good things about this place and the INCREDIBLE service they provide. They are so nice and will do everything in their power to put your mind at ease and make you happy. I almost feel guilty for their generosity and service. Thank you thank you thank you for taking such incredible care of me and my car.

I found Advanced on Yelp a few years ago when Royal Motors gave me a quote for a repair on my Beetle that I just couldn't stomach. Advanced did the job (plus a bunch of other related work) for much less. Then, when I had another problem after that in the same general area of the engine they had worked on, they fixed it for free, because there was a chance that they had touched the area that was now broken. That showed me how honest Randy (the owner) was, and I never went back to Royal again. By 2010, my beloved Beetle had gotten quite old and needed a bunch of repairs. Randy felt bad that I was coming in so often that he started giving me breaks in price, though there was no reason he had to do so (it's not his fault I have an old car). Most recently, an old problem recurred -- the New Beetle sunroof has a design defect in its drainage system that sometimes leads to water getting inside the car. This has happened to my car a few times over the years, and it happened again this month. I brought it in to Advanced, fully expecting to have to shell out a couple hundred bucks for the fix. To my pleasant surprise, though, Advanced fixed it for free, saying that since they had fixed the problem for me before, they wouldn't charge me again this time. This made me realize, it's about time I write these guys a great Yelp review. Not only do they beat Royal Motors' prices, they are friendly and helpful and they give you breaks where Royal would just find another reason to squeeze more money out of you. If you're in SF and have an Audi or a VW, you're crazy if you take your car anywhere else.

These guys repaired my old Audi and the final price was exactly what they quoted me.Honest, friendly and reliable. You can't really ask for much more in a mechanic. I'll definitely return for my next round of repairs.

Friendly, knowledgable, dedicated.I took my ailing 2006 GLI here, after it breached the 80K mile mark, blew a gasket in the turbocharger, AND got a flat tire (yeah, that was an eventful trip). I wouldn't have expected a 36-hour turnaround for this kind of work, but still got it. Less than that, even. More like 30 hours after dropping her off. Even though it was a pricey fix, I never felt like these guys were pushing anything unnecessary on me. They nearly insisted on paying for cab or MUNI fare, even though this place was close enough for me to walk.Seriously? You have a european car and you aren't going here? What's wrong with you?

First Yelp review...I signed up just to say how great this place is. Just like many others, I was going to Royal for my A4 and now I know how much I was getting ripped off. I don't need to say anything more than all these other 5 star reviews...simply, they are all true.

I had to take in my A4 for a regularly scheduled maintenance and called these guys to get a quote. The price was well under what I was getting from other service companies, so based on the Yelp ratings, I decided it was a no-brainer. Upon dropping the car off, it turns out we had a miscommunication over which service was required, so the quote wasn't quite right and the real price was a few hundred dollars higher. The actual price was still competitive to what I was seeing from other shops, but regardless, they honored the initial quote and took the hit. They had the car wrapped up early and made the entire experience super stress free. I'll definitely be coming back!

I love these guys! Randy, Brett and the crew are the best! People in the car repair business should watch and learn how this establishment treats it's customers. I've never been more appreciative of a car repair joint as much as this one. You guys are awesome.Royal Motors... geh zum teufel.

Although my Brooke (1999 Jetta, 104k miles) is no young'n, and I've entrusted her livelihood to AA for years, I'm not gonna lie - I was beginning to feel like Advanced Autowerks (AA) was raping me as of late - and not in a good way. The ABS light came on, so I took her in. $300 later, her faulty wheel sensors were cured! For a week. I call AA to inquire about this, and they tell me to bring the car in to plug into the computer to see if the car is okay to drive, or to set up a subsequent appointment if faults are discovered. I work across the Bay and I didn't have time, so I roughed it on BART and carpool til I had a chance to work in the city for a day. Even though I ended up having to set up another appointment, Randy let me leave the car there to be assessed while I did my own thing. THANK YOU. That was all I wanted to hear. And they comped my cab ride Downtown.I bring her back. "It's not the sensors after all. The control arms have exhausted their life span." Ohh...okay. The car goes into the operating room again."Ooh...you know what? Your car was just about done, but when we sent it to alignment, they found that the inner tie rod is bent, so we'd like to keep it for another day." You've got to be kidding me. Remember the "whack-a-mole" thing I talked about in my last review? A free cab ride in exchange for a repair in the hundreds certainly works out swell for them. I began to wonder... "We'll get you a rental. We'll take care of it, and you can pick it up even after we're closed. We'll put the key in one of the lock boxes near the entrance." Ooh, so they're upping the perks. Alright, I'll bite.I show up around 7pm, open the lock box they told me it would be in: nothing. I look and feel up that lock box all over just to be sure. Still nothing. Alright, well maybe it's in one of the other boxes. I open ALL of the boxes. MULTIPLE TIMES. To find NOTHING. ARE YOU SERIOUS?! At that point, the sun was setting, I began to hear a cussing crazy person closing in on me, and I really had to use the restroom, so I gave up and went home. I felt so duped and betrayed. The next morning, I call AA to tell them what happened. Partially to express my discontent, and also because I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. Maybe someone got to the key and car before me and drove off with it? Or maybe I was too stupid to figure out the lock box situation, and the key was there the whole time? They apologize for the internal miscommunication, and offer to get me the rental I was promised. Meh, I'm over it. I just wanted to see what the explanation was, if there was one. I was already en route to work via transit. I can wait until later to get my own car back.Afternoon rolls around and I'm scrambling to finish my work in order to leave early and hope to make it back to the City on time. I arrive at the Embarcadero Station at 5:45pm. F*CK. I'M NEVER GOING TO MAKE IT. I phone in another distress call to AA, and Randy tells me he'll stick around for a while after 6 to close up, and he'll give me a call if he's going to leave before I get there. Praise the T - Third Line Lord, I was able to catch it right after getting off BART. It was a roller coaster ride that ended on a high note, and I swoon for AA again. Their professionalism and customer service are top notch.

This shop has been nothing but excellent since I started going to it about 3-4 years ago. Advanced is a truly trustworthy shop, which is pure gold in my opinion. They'll charge you a reasonable price for quality parts and service, and won't tack on any extras that aren't necessary. My work has always been minor, but done flawlessly. Compare that to the dealer, who once gave me back my car with a nail in the tire...I'll take consistency over a 'complimentary' car wash any day.And they've saved me bunches of money when others might not have. When a part is still under warranty, they'll send me to the dealer to get the work done for free, even though they could have ignored that fact and just charged me for the work. They've even checked out my brakes when I got debris caught in it, verified all was OK, and handed me a $0.00 bill!Customer service is the best in the business -- they're friendly, and take the time to explain any issue in layman's terms without talking down to you or glossing over the details. They'll even educate you about your car and show you things you can do on your own to maintain it better! The shop is clean and they do a great job getting you to wherever you need to be while your car is in the shop. Did I mention they've always been on-time or ahead of schedule with getting back to me? Highly recommended.

These guys are amazing. I brought in my 2000 Audi A6 for some pretty extensive repairs, and the total came to around $4,400 (originally quoted at $6,325 at Royal Motors). They told me it would take a week or more to finish, but low and behold, they had it done in three days. They also were able to give me a 10% discount for paying cash - more than $400 off. Pretty darn cool. Then, I realized that my rear-view mirror was broken after I picked up my car. The auto-tint fluid in the mirror leaked and created a really big spot in the mirror. I called them, and even though they said they knew that nothing they did caused the damage, they said they'd replace it for free, without charging for labor either.Seriously??? Does anyone do that anymore? I was absolutely floored.Unbelievable. Let me say this: I love Audis and I probably will always own an Audi. And while the maintenance can be a pain in the a**, having somebody that does good work on your Audi is a lifesaver.Advanced - you have my business for everything Audi going forward. The only thing I'm upset about is that it took me 6 years to finally say "No" to Royal Motors.
