I have been going to Advanced for years based on a recommendation of a friend. After some not so pleasant experiences with another shop in SF, I was really glad to find Advanced. In all my trips, they have never suggested repairs that were not required. During one repair, they broke my windshield by mistake and replaced it for free within the necessary time frame for the other repair work which was being done. It isnt often that you hear many people state that they trust their mechanics, but to date, they have never given me a reason not to.

Advanced raises the bar and may have saved my life and perhaps the life of a passenger or two. Went in for a scheduled maintenance some 20K miles post its "scheduled" mile mark with a few known hazards -- ABS light not working (a running joke for the car, "Betsy"), one busted headlight, worn wiper blades. The ABS light being on actually meant Betsy had no functioning ABS (was previously told it was simply a malfunctioning light by some other shop). With the inspection, Advanced determined a couple of other hazards like an oil leak and wearing clutch. Anyway to cut to the chase by 5pm this evening as promised, Betsy now has functioning ABS (she can decisively stop!... a nice luxury during the wet SF season); two working headlights (she can roll after sundown again!); competent wiper blades (I can see through the windshield!); and can rest assured her insides work and are in good, proper order. Betsy's no spring chicken (turning 14 years old this August) but since the Advanced crew has her back for the foreseeable future, all's good.

I highly recommend Advanced Autowerks. These guys really know their German cars. Jason and Randy are both solid guys they really go above and beyond. Randy went as far as to donate to my team in Training fund raising campaign to help the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Must join in the lovefest...As anyone who owns a VW knows, they are the bane of your existence. If it's not one problem it's another. I only found these guys as I was considering junking the Jetta but I wonder if it would be in better shape if I had found them earlier? They gave me a full consultation even though I only decide to fix one thing. Get this - they told me I shouldn't pay to have them fix most of the stuff since I decided I likely wouldn't keep the car - they could have made a $1000 on me if they had told me to fix it. Talk about doing the right thing. Even gave me some ideas on how to figure out how much the car is worth. I don't think I'll get another VW or Audi, but if you have one, I would highly recommend going here....

These guys run a great shop. I don't think that there prices are "cheep" but I've never been up sold or been told that I have to pay for any repairs that I knew my car didn't need to drive comfortably and safely. They are reliable, courteous, and honest businessmen that have made a customer for life. So much so, that I actually signed up for yelp just to write this review. Thanks.

Advanced Autowerks is amazing! I'll never go to the VW dealership again!! Jason and the rest of the crew really understand what customer service is all about. Jason explained in detail what they were doing to my car and why and what my options were. The suspension on my Passat is amazing. I've never left an auto shop feeling this happy before.

These guys ROCK! I just moved to the city from Colorado and had to get my car through the dreaded smog check. Failed the first attempt. Fellow VW owners feel my check engine light pain!? It passed emissions but had a bunch of computer errors, so the light would not go off!After one bad experience with another shop, I found Advanced Autowerks on Yelp. Took my car in, had some work done, the light came back on - took it back in and explained to the shop owner (I think..?), Randy, my situation and that i was afraid of going upside down on my car value since it's an older model and I'd already sunk a ton of money in it just to get it out here. Not only did he locate the final problem and resolve it for reasonable money, but he took it to smog check for me and saved me the final headache!!!Thank you Randy!! You will have my biz from now on!! Advanced Autowerks is the BEST!

These guys are awesome! Friendly, professional, and (important IMHO) very understanding of those with no auto/engine knowledge whatsoever. Flashing engine light? Stuck at the side of the road? Give 'em a call and they'll ease your anxiety levels.My A4 goes here whenever there's an issue (which unfortunately is not infrequently). If it's a quick fix, I'm in and out and often with little or no cost (probably because they know I'll be back with bigger problems to fix). Just got back from having my first visit and 55k service for my Audi TT with these guys. Easy and hassle free. I opted to stay and wait for the car (took a few hours, but I was just working from my laptop using their wifi in the waiting room). Did the service for a fraction of what the east bay dealership I used to go to wanted (and actually ended up being a smidge less than I was quoted initially on the phone). And I got to hang out with Diamond, the superstar sweetheart pitbull. Will be coming here for all my future service needs.

Thank god for Yelp! Whenever it comes to car repairs my stomach automatically starts to churn. I always feel like I am going to get ripped off. I have a Volkswagen and have also heard that they have special needs that sometimes can only be taken care of by the dealership.I started to check all over Yelp to see where I can go and found Advanced Autowerks. It was right by my house and had gotten some great reveiws so it seemed like a good fit. Boy was it! I went in about some electrical problems but also told them that my car was kind of loud. I've had it for 10 years so I thought that maybe it was old and that was the reason. They said they would check it out.Well they found that my water pump had holes in it and was ready to go at any time. When they called me to tell me and give me an estimate they gave me no pressure to get it fixed. They said it was an expense repair and that I could wait, but when it went there was no doubt I would be stranded somewhere.I told them to go ahead and do it and am sooooooo happy I did. They kept me well informed about my car the whole time. It was a Friday and they called me a second time forewarning me that there was a possibility it would be done by the end of the day but would supply me a rental car at no charge for the weekend. Then they called me later saying that it was ready. When I picked my car up they explained all the things they repaired in detail and showed me all the parts they took out and replaced, so I could actually see the wear and tear on them and why the work needed to be done. And to make it even better when I got the bill it was $70 less than what they originally estimated. I would go back to this place in a second. Hopefully I won't have to, but if I ever have a feeling there is something not right with my car I know where I will take it and I highly recommend your car there too.
