About / Reviews

I wrote the review below back in April 2009, but a recent experience deserved a refreshed review. On Friday, after taking my sick kids to the doctor, my 2003 A4 started to splutter down I280. I pulled off the road, and my first call was to Advanced. After a quick description of the fault, Brett diagnosed a faulty ignition coil, and recommended that I have the car towed to to Advanced, so as not to destroy the catalytic converter. Just as I was about to hang up, Brett asked me what year the car was, and went on to suggest that there might be a recall on the ignition coil, and that it was worth a call to an Audi dealership to check.Brett was 100% correct, I had the car towed to Rector Audi, and the work done for free. What other mechanic would pass on an opportunity to cash in on my misfortune? 6 stars to Advanced - thanks guys!*******There is not much I can add to the reviews below. I have been taking my 2003 Audi A4 1.8T to Randy and Aaron for 3.5 years now, and I have always found them to be friendly, informative, honest and reasonable. I've taken my car in for both scheduled services as well as for breakdown repairs. After being burrned by every Audi dealership in the the Bay Area (this is my 2nd Audi), finding these guys was a breath of fresh air. When a job needs doing, they explain why, how and the consequences of not taking action. When they can fix something without ordering overpriced Audi parts, they will. Everyone needs a good car mechanic - I've found mine. Thanks Randy and team, I'll be back.

Jaded, divorced from dealer, Audi owner seeking the impossible_ a quality Audi shop in the SFbay area with good service and no snoot (take that Sonnen!). Great experience with these guys - no BS, fast estimate, good work, good explanations that were right on (confirming what my engineer husband told me before I went).

This is a great example of a stand-up, honest business run the right way. These guys are straightforward with you, guarantee they will preserve your warranty status with the dealerships, and if they find a problem that's still under the manufacturer's warranty, they send you to the dealership. I suspected that the VW dealership's $300+ price for a simple 30K service was ridiculous (oil, filter, rotate tires - that just about covers it), so I called Advanced and they did it for $114, which I believe was even under their quote on the phone. They provide shuttle service to and from anywhere in SF. You've got to love a business that typically is saving you more than they're charging you!

Every time I come here, I find a new reason to like these guys.Seriously, its almost comical. They find issues that the dealer never seems to know about, and they have never screwed anything up for me.I even run into these guys when I'm out on the town!

Ok. So. I read the great reviews on Yelp and one of my friends with a similar out of warranty Audi S4 had been taking his car to Advanced for service so I thought I'd give them shot for some routine maintenance on my car. When my car was under warranty I used: Royal Motors, Carlsen and Rector. And they all sucked except for Rector. So that's my point of reference.First off: they're very easy for me to get too... just of 280.... no downtown traffic and they have a shuttle that drops me off downtown or I can take the T.They were courteous and professional and upfront about the charges. They left my car on the lift so that they could show me the additional work I needed done.I used RepairPal to evaluate their estimate and they seemed in the right range for CV Boot Replacement for my vehicle. So here's what it comes down to: unless you are a mechanic and you know your car inside and out it is almost impossible to know if work needs to be done or not and if the shop did the work or not. There's this assumption that taking your car to a dealer results in better service and better repairs. My experience is that this is just not true. I'm not sure why anyone would expect a quality repair shop to be dirt cheap.I decided to go back to the place that treated me with respect, took the time to answer my questions, and explained the fixes in detail. My personal experience, the reviews on Yelp, and my friend's experience gave me enough confidence to decide that I could trust these guys.

I previously took my car to Royal Motors and received an estimate for almost $600. Royal Motors couldn't fix it and had me wait 2 weeks to order the part from overseas. In the meantime, I called Advanced Audi and schedule an appointment the next day. They fixed the problem in one day day for less than $250 and it turns out that none of the parts Royal Motors claimed needed replacing actually did. These guys are a class act and know what they're doing. From now on, I'm going to Advanced Audi for any future car repairs. With so many import car garages ripping people off, its nice to finally find a garage I can actually trust!!

These guys fixed up my car after wasting hundreds of dollars on mechanics that didn't do anything. They are on the expensive side, but much cheaper than paying someone to not fix my car at all. I had an electrical problem and a throttle body problem that they diagnosed correctly and finished the job.

These guys are fantastic. I've been a couple times so far and I just trust this shop. They know my car, they're all nice guys, and their prices are fair and I've never felt like I was getting gouged (unlike other shops) - in fact, they've ended up saving me money.

Great service. Great guys. Honest and professional. I'm almost hesitant at leaving a good rating because I don't want them to get flooded with new clients which may disrupt the delicate nature of the ongoing service I see from Advanced Audi - Volkswagen.

I've been going to Advanced Audi ever since one of my friends had recommended I hit them up. I have a 1999 Audi A4 that still runs well, and I'm sure I can attribute its' good condition to having it serviced at Advanced Audi for the past three years. Randy is so well versed with Audi's that he can typically diagnose and provide feedback on vehicle issues over the phone. This is the benefit of going to a specialist. Not only are they efficient and reliable when it comes to repairs, but they're also highly accountable. We all know that taking your vehicle to a dealership is one of the biggest mistakes that anyone can make. They're dishonest, often misdiagnose problems, and are known to overcharge for labor. I'm considering purchasing a new Audi at some point, and plan to negotiate a service plan with the manufacturer to have my car serviced at Advanced Audi as part of the warranty. I will do anything to avoid having to rely on a dealership for warranty based service ever in my life. Not only does Advanced Audi work on Audi's, but they also service Volkswagens. Oh yes, and they also provide shuttle service in the morning and toward the end of the day. It's just another perk to having your vehicle serviced here. I can't say enough about how well this shop is operated. You actually look forward to having issues with your vehicle knowing that you can take it here.....;o)
